My name is Thomas Senatore and I am running for the City Council District 1 Seat and I am asking for your vote.
As a 22 year plus full-time resident of Cape Coral, I have seen the growth and experienced the many devastating hurricanes that effected so many lives.
During the last 7+ years I served as a City Volunteer where we help our community in quiet times and helped our community in times of need because it is our home also.
I have been self-employed most of my adult life after being Honorably Discharged from the USMC.
Being the owner of a small family run company, I hold a different point of view compared to many seeking to get elected. When we set our budget be it for home or business, we can not just move the line to give us more money because we want to , we have to live within our means.
It is time for a change and Cape Coral needs a person like myself who has experience running a company, dealing with staff issues, staying within a budget (which our city has trouble doing), having that military tenacity to dig in and get the job done and NOT be influenced by staff, council or the builders/developers.
We need to bring respect back into our council meetings and I will push on day 1 to bring the citizens input front and center and push a resolution to permit clapping during the meetings. We need to make sure the meeting times is accessible for most all the residents and not just convenient for city staff .
I know how to deal with all individuals and how to work to get tasks accomplished that benefit the city and stop those that do not. I will listen to our residents and I will respond to each and every one of them. I will then get involved to find a mutually acceptable resolution when issues arise and not sit back like some of our elected official do.
I currently sit on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and we continue to work on making home ownership affordable in our city. As Vice Chair on the Planning and Zoning Commission I consistently vote in favor of what is best for the community and neighborhoods and not always which the applicant wants like Yellow Fever Creek or Red Fish Point Projects that only benefit the applicant.
We need to add new people sitting on council and a Mayor that understand sustainable growth, staying within your budget and not to take on projects when the funding is not available.

Things done wrong
Voting themselves a massive Stipend
Not bring in more jobs
Not opening the parks quicker
Not being the voice of the People

Honesty
Never again let items be approved such as the stipend as done a few years ago and be the voice of he people and not of the Mayor.
Parks and Recreation
Bring back our parks and open spaces for everyone to enjoy once more and curb unwanted projects.
Permitting
Have the process streamlined and follow the master plan. Reduce the number of massive housing projects and have housing developed at a cost to keep families in the Cape.
